Casa de los NiñosEl Centro Promocional Cristiano por la Paz y por la Vida, also known as Casa de los Niños, was founded in 1988 in the small village of San Ramon, by a group of middle-aged women whose sons were off at war.
ProNica funds health-related workshops in seven rural communities and the creation of a network of community health promoters. They conduct workshops on breast cancer, menopause and sexually transmitted diseases. In 2010 ProNica awarded $865 for medical procedures, outreach and education materials. |

A dedicated core of women of varying ages at the Casa organizes their local community around health issues, promotes the use of soybeans to improve nutrition, provides art classes for children, and has an organic medicinal plant garden whose produce is then processed into herbal medicines for re-sale in their small pharmacy.
